New Chef – new menus
We are very happy to welcome Julie to her new role as our Chef at Restgarth. Julie started her new position in March and has already made some nice improvements to the menus. She has some great ideas for tempting those taste buds with delicious treats and is bringing in the spring menu at the end of the month, promoting fresh home cooked meals.
We have had a lovely time recently celebrating some very special birthdays with our residents. Here we are celebrating Mrs Shirwell’s 101st birthday on the 7th March.
New Menu’s and Summer Fete
We are hoping to introduce our spring/summer menu soon and would welcome some ideas to tempt those taste buds. We aim to continually refresh and review the menus to provide varied, balanced and nutritional meals.
Now spring is on the way we are planning to book a date for our summer fete, and we would be happy to receive any requests or suggestions as to what you might like.
Nails and Pamper
We are delighted to welcome “Nailicious”, our new nail beautician, who is providing a lovely pampering manicure service at Pine Lodge every two weeks. If you would like to treat yourself, please let our team know.
Pine Lodge Home Care Employee “Stars”
Emma, our Home Care manager, has introduced a new ‘carer of the month’ award. This award is decided by our service user’s compliments and feedback, and manager appraisal on performance throughout the month. Nominations are from our carer’s and service user’s.
We are very pleased to announce that in January, Stacey Barron was our star employee and in February, our star was team leader, Dawn Gill. Both girls are working diligently towards their QCF Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care.
Sadly, we are having to say “goodbye” to Tamara on the 24th April who is leaving us to look after her dear little boy. Tamara has been a valuable member of the team and will be much missed.
Katie has been training some of the care staff at Restgarth to conduct pre-admission assessments. This will have the benefit of involving more staff finding out and getting to know prospective residents. Pre-admission assessments help to ensure that we are able to meet residents needs when they move into the home.
Mindfulness training has been offered to all the staff at Pine Lodge Care Home, Restgarth Care Home and Pine Lodge Home Care Services.
Mindfulness training is currently widely used in the NHS and many private sector organisations. The key aspect of Mindfulness is the development of compassion for oneself and others. Mindfulness is also a great way to relieve stress and improve happiness.
At Restgarth 10 staff have expressed an interest in receiving the training.

Recent Inspection at Pine Lodge Care Home and Home Care Services
After our recent inspection at Pine Care Home and Home Care Services we are eagerly awaiting the findings of the CQC Inspection team.
The Inspectors were with us for total of three days and looked into all aspects of the care we provide. They were diligent in interviewing residents/clients and staff and have sort the impressions of relatives and outside agencies.
We are hoping to hear the results any day now.
Staff return to Pine Lodge.
We welcome Lisa and Abigail back to Pine Lodge Care Home after a short break from working for us.
We have a new handyman for Pine Lodge, Alan, who will be looking after our Care Home and Home Care office. Alan has worked in Weston for another care organisation and has plenty of experience dealing with the daily maintenance issues involved in running a busy Care Home.
We are delighted to welcome Chrissie Parker as our new Deputy for Pine Lodge. Chrissie brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of the care sector- She has previously worked as a Deputy in a Care Home in Somerset and, living locally, enjoys being closer to her place of work.
Pine Lodge is looking very festive; and the tree has been decorated with the help of our lovely Mary-Ann, and the Pine Lodge team of Christmas Elves!
